The New Orleans Saints have their starting quarterback for the 2024 season. Spencer Rattler may play a role in the future, but Derek Carr is the starter for now. He can get the job done when it comes to winning the NFC South.
The Saints QB is not elite. He's not bottom of the barrel, either.

Carr's skillset is somewhat limited. He's not a top-notch processor, and he won't threaten defenses on the ground.
That being said, he throws one of the best deep balls in the NFL, and he played well for New Orleans over the back half of last year. With an improved, new scheme for the offense, Carr should be projected to improve this season - rather than decline.

Carr averaged 228 yards per game through the air last year. Additionally, he took care of the football. The vet threw just eight interceptions and lost three fumbles behind a constantly-evolving offensive line. 25 passing TDs was a solid number that he can improve upon in 2024.
Not to mention, Carr played with a plethora of injuries, especially in the first half of the season. That being said, he pushed through and stayed on the field for the Saints.
These are not meant to be excuses for Carr. He needs to play better in 2024. Regardless, ranking him any lower than 20th is fairly incomprehensible.
Only time will tell if CBS is correct about his ranking for the upcoming season, but for now, it is disrespectful.
