One of the areas that AC Milan will look to address during the upcoming summer transfer window is the midfield, and a familiar name has resurfaced as a target.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) has a section with the following headline: ‘The Dominguez hypothesis is back in fashion’. The Rossoneri are looking for a defensive midfielder and there could be a flashback for Nico Dominguez.

The former Bologna player is now at Nottingham Forest, but the Rossoneri management scouted him and were linked with him for many weeks and months before Argentine decided to move to the Premier League.

However, his season in England has not gone to plan with Forest having been in a relegation battle all season, for this reason it is not excluded that he could decide to change teams again and perhaps return to Italy. The player even admitted he waited for Milan.

Milan have other leads for the midfield alive too such as Youssouf Fofana of Monaco, Renato Veiga of Basel and Sofyan Amrabat, who will return to Fiorentina after his loan spell at Manchester United comes to a conclusion.

Forest paid €10m plus €5m in bonuses to land Dominguez from Fiorentina, but it is not known if they would look to just recoup this amount or sell for a profit. Milan have done business with them before, namely the loan of Divock Origi.
